Where there’s a Will there’s a way!

The Courtyard Budapest City Center

It was going to be our first time in Budapest and did not want to be too far away from the main attractions.  At the same time we did not want to spend a fortune on accommodations. We did a bit of research and found that the Courtyard Budapest City Center is conveniently located near the Blaha Lujza square, only a five-minute walk to Blaha Lujza tér metro station.

With trams number 4 and 6 accessible from the station, getting to and from Budapest’s major attractions in adequate time would not be an issue.

The moment we walked in we were welcomed by the doorman.  My first impression was that this hotel had recently been renovated.  Upon walking in I noticed that the entire lobby of the hotel was very well-kept, elegantly decorated and modernly furnished.

Our check-in was fast and efficient.  The front desk staff was extremely welcoming and friendly.  When we told them that we had left our European charger adapter they even let us borrow one for the entire stay.

Our room was very clean, spacious, quite, and most importantly had very comfortable beds.  Each room in the Courtyard Budapest City Center offers a well-lit work desk and an ergonomic chair.

Tea and coffee-making facilities are found in every room as well. Unfortunately, free wi-fi is only available in the lobby.  If you want to use wi-fi in your room there is an hourly fee which seemed too expensive for us.

After resting in our room for a bit we decided to go out for dinner.  We were tired and did not want to change or go very far.  We walked for a few blocks to see if there was a restaurant nearby but were not able to find anything that seemed casual except for a few pubs.   We found a pub right beside the hotel but they did not have a non-smoking section and there was just too much smoke around us and so we decided to leave.  Eventually, we decided to give the hotel restaurant a try.

The Oléo Pazzo Mediterranean bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  It’s very reasonably priced.  We ordered a mushroom gnocchi and a pizza.  The mushroom gnocchi was very tasty and so was the pizza, except for the fact that it had a very thick crust. We had one dinner and several buffet breakfasts in the hotel restaurant.  The food was very good, and the waiters very attentive.

The hotel has a very attractive interior, it’s within walking distance of local attractions and the staff are very helpful.  There are several restaurants located nearby, and a small shopping mall is right next door.   The Courtyard Budapest City Center is an affordable 4 start hotel with excellent staff that offers a calm and comfortable stay.
