Good evening from Bruges. We have been here since early afternoon and are amazed at how picture-perfect and romantic this city is.
Earlier on we took a boat cruise through the city and marveled at the beauty of its many canals and bridges. Where the Groenerei and Dijver canals meet, you’ll find the Rozenhoedkaai – a strikingly beautiful part of Bruges, famed for its canal-side medieval buildings.
Bruges is a waterborne city, its many canals part of a network that links it to the North Sea. Of all the canals in the centre of town, the Groenerei, the ‘green canal’, is the most romantic. It is best seen from Peerdebrug, the Horse Bridge (on Peerdenstraat): looking towards the Meebrug, the canal is lined with trees and creepers, elegant 17th-century mansions and almshouses and topped by the cathedral tower.
Have you been to Bruges? If so, I’d love to read about your experience in the comments.
